As a symbol of purity and receptivity the Maria statue in the Abbey Keizersberg Leuven slowly disappeared under a veil of dust and dirt. I was invited to create a work for the abbey as part of the group show Let Yourself Fall 2017. After a residency on location and the conversations I had with the monks, I proposed to undo the statue of its dust. In relation to the spiritual context of the building and its inhabitants, this common act became a complex action. The statue was wrapped in cloth and made wet from the outside collecting the dust on the inside. The obtained print was afterwards digitalized in order to weave the image in a linen veil, which was presented in front of the statue. Because of its translucency both images merge.
